During the reign of Alavuddin Kilji in North India his attention turned towards South and he tried to annexe it through Malik Ghaffoor. But it was only in 1323 AD Delhi Sultan Muhammad Bin Thuglak captured Madurai and established mughal rule. It lasted till the rule of Kiasuddeen.
