2G issues draw Pranab to New York Today
New York: It seems to be this evening Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee meets in New York. The agenda of meeting is to discuss the Finance Minister’s talks at the World Bank, since it is the first meet after the note on 2G allocations. This becomes a rift between P Chidambaram and Pranab Mukherjee.
Mr Chidambaram, Ex-Finance Minister has had this issue opposition gunning him. The Prime Minister said he is confident in his ministers and nothing should be much read on Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the meeting at New York.
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly session said that “The business of the Opposition is to oppose or depose the government… nothing unusual they are doing”
When Dr. Singh questioned earlier as he backed the Home Minister due to which whether he will back Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee too, he said “Of course, my ministers enjoy my confidence in full”
The controversy between Mr Chindambaram and Mr Mukherjee emerged through a note from Finance Ministry, written in March this year questioning his actions on telecom scam once playing out in 2008. Report says that Ex-Finance Minister Mr. Chidambaram, should have been keen to ensure that spectrum was not given at throwaway rates to companies that were favoring A Raja, a Ex-Telecom Minister who is in Jail now.
