New Delhi: A former BJP advisor, Sudheendra Kulkarni was arrested and locked up in Tihar jail up to October 1st. In order to explain the role of Mr. Sudheendra Kulkarni on cash-for-votes scam, he was made appear in a Delhi court today.
Mr. Kulkarni explains that the consequence was his attempt to expose the UPA government’s alleged willingness to buy votes for staying in power, and then he would admit himself to go jail. A plea on Mr. Kulkarni’s interim bail has been rejected by court. Report says that on October 1st regular bail plea will be accepted.
Mr. Kulkarni was questioned on whistle blowers being arrested in the case. He replies he acted both as a whistleblower and a political activist in 2008, at the time he was persuading the three BJP MPs to put themselves on the political market ahead of a trust vote for Dr Manmohan Singh. A hidden captured the MPs who received money from middlemen, a politician called Amar Singh. MPs marched towards Lok Sabha for the belief on vote waving money one crore in cash, it was informed that they paid to abstain during the vote As Dr. Singh survived the vote.
Mr. Kulkarni is the mastermind of the cash-for-votes operation, said Delhi police. His lawyer informed that always the BJP was kept in the know about the “Sting operation”.
“The main intention was to project the very disgusting corruption event on the purchase of opposition and independent MPs in order to influence their vote in parliament, through which the government has been reduced for minority survived” said Mr. Kulkarni, who was a senior BJP leader’s advisor in 2008. “India’s democracy would be in danger if our MLAs are purchased votes by providing them like 10 crores and more for it” he added.
As Mr. Kulkarni was held up with her daughter’s college admission in US, he did not hear about the earlier curt saying on the issue. When the police filed the charge sheet he was already abroad, he said.
The Judge who handled this case was not able to understand an issue on why some were arrested and others were not. Why it had been left with court to order the arrest for another accused in the case, she asked the Delhi Police.
Amar Singh was ordered arrest under the prevention of corruption Act, earlier this month he has been granted interim bail for medical reasons. There were Rajya Sabha MPs bail plea arguments on Wednesday at court.
In 2008, two out of the three BJP MPs who paid money are in jail. The speaker of Lok Sabha has to sanction action against the third MP, who is still serving. Mr. Advani few weeks back in Parliament was doing some sort of a dramatic event like asking the government to put him into jail. He stated that he was aware about his party’s idea to entrap the government ahead of the trust vote on july 22, 2008, by being a Leader of the Opposition in 2008.
Who helped to expose corruption are being penalized while others were benefited from Amar Singh’s alleged conspiracy remain untouched today, argued by Mr. Kulkarni. “The real fact and issue is who benefited from this cash for votes? And why those benefited are free rather than who exposed?” asked Mr. Kulkarni.
The BJP MPs money source has been not disclosed so far by Delhi police. Also, there is no explanation for the Amar Singh into the bribe of BJP MPs. “Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi were the beneficiaries of Amar Singh action and they should explain the cash-for=votes scam” repeatedly said by BJP. The highlight was the arrest of whistleblowers while the people behind the cash-for-vote scam were left free, says BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad.
